Palenque

Not exactly a tourist Mecca. More a waypoint for those who venture here to see the well-known ruins and then continue on, although, there are some who stay longer, in hotels and guesthouses near the wilderness area, to observe the local flora and fauna.

The first and only remarkable structure you'll see when entering the town, the Maya Head

The intersection closest to the Mayan Head roundabout, takes you to some of the hotels and a more touristy area

The rest of the little town looks more like this
People in orange clean streets
Took a wrong turn, but no problems at all
A bakery, some large and small shops, and across from the ADO terminal, a bus storage area

The tour agency where I bought my tour ticket to Yaxchilan and Bonampak

Are we having fun yet? To explain, when you see the $ sign, it means Peso, unless stated as USD
